Bad Reception said yesterday that they’re still a band. That is the story. They’ve played a few small rooms, rehearsed when life allows it, and declined to call any of this a comeback. I wrote about why the lack of a grand announcement may be the most important part of their return for Arc Fault today.

Bad Reception signed a major-label deal today. I wrote the Arc Fault piece, but the short version is that they earned the opportunity and I’m proud of them. Arc Fault could help with an EP. We could not give them the rooms, reach, or tour support they’re being offered now. Sometimes the good news is that your friends outgrow what you can do for them. Go make the record.

I’ve spent the last few months around Bad Reception while they worked on Dead Air. Arc Fault helped them find room to record and handled some of the boring logistics because they’re our friends and because the songs are good. Those are separate reasons, despite Nico’s objections. Cole does not sound like Mason. That is the point. EP tomorrow. I wrote about it for Arc Fault.
