Bad Reception bassist Jace Holloway recovering after accidental overdose

Bad Reception bassist Jace Holloway is recovering after an accidental overdose Tuesday and will remain away from the band while he receives care. The group confirmed Holloway’s condition Thursday but said no timetable has been set for his return. Vocalist Riley Carter found Holloway at his home Dec. 12 after becoming concerned about him and went to check on him. Carter paused several times when asked about that night and offered few details. “I knew something was wrong,” she said. “So I went over.” She was quiet for several seconds before continuing. “I found him. I called for help.” Carter remained with Holloway while emergency help was summoned but declined to describe his condition at the scene. Asked how Holloway is doing now, Carter looked down before answering. “He’s here,” she said. After another pause, she added, “That’s enough.” The band has declined to identify the exact medication involved, citing Holloway’s privacy. Guitarist Evan Parker said the overdose involved prescription medication and was not connected to illicit drug use. “We want to be careful about what we say because some of this is Jace’s medical information,” Parker said. “It was accidental. He’s alive, he’s getting help, and that’s what people need to know.” Parker said the group does not intend to release additional medical details unless Holloway chooses to do so himself. “There’s a difference between telling people what happened and turning somebody’s worst night into public property,” he said. “The rest belongs to Jace.” Drummer Nico Alvarez said the incident had shaken the group. “You spend enough years around somebody and you start treating them like they’re indestructible,” Alvarez said. “Apparently that is not medically accurate.” Carter did not participate further in the interview. Holloway will step away from touring while he recovers. Parker said there has been no discussion about setting a deadline for his return. “Nobody asked how fast we could get him back onstage,” Parker said. “The answer would have been the same anyway: whenever he’s ready.” Studio B - Hollywood said it is working with Bad Reception regarding the group’s scheduled appearances but has not announced how Holloway’s absence will be handled. The band said Holloway remains a member of Bad Reception. “Jace is our bassist,” Parker said. “Taking time away to recover doesn’t change that.” Bad Reception has asked fans and media to respect Holloway’s privacy and said further information about his recovery will be released only with his approval.
